Having tried and failed to find much of interest in The Magic Numbers' new album beyond hit single Take A Chance, along came this four-track release from emerging Indie band Bauer which is, quite honestly, one of the best releases of the year. The haunting voice of Greg Matthews plus Michael Guitar (guitar), Neil Treppas (bass) and Lee Bradbury (drums) is all the more exceptional having emerged from the North. I'd even go as far as to compare the impact with that of first hearing Keane, if that's not considered an insult these days. VH
